    Addressing problems in a structured way & 8D

    We offer training and coaching for structured problem solving, based on the 8D system. This is an 8-stage problem solving method used to find the cause of a problem and solve the problem in a structured way. In this way, product and process improvements are implemented.

    Issues

    Problems can come in many forms, such as:

    • customer complaints;
    • too many failures or rejection, too low FTT or FTR;
    • too many breakdowns or machine stops, too low OEE;
    • waste of all kinds;
    • problems with supplied raw materials and components;
    • too high rotation of staff.

    The 8 steps

    The 8D system consists of 8 successive steps. Our trajectory does not fully correspond to this; we opt for a method based on the 8D methodology.

    • Step 1: Assemble a team.
    • Step 2: Describe the problem.
    • Step 3: Temporarily fix the problem.
    • Step 4: Find the cause of the problem.
    • Step 5: Find a solution.
    • Step 6: Deploy the solution.
    • Step 7: Preventing the problem in the future.
    • Step 8: Rewarding the tam.

    Learn the basic techniques

    The following basic techniques are also covered in this training:

    • flowcharting;
    • 5-Why to find the real root causes of a problem;
    • brainstorming;
    • objective evaluation of possible actions for improvement;
    • containment processes (protect the customer);
    • basic project planning and project time planning.
